Disgust.

This has been an odd last few days. I worked a 48 hour shift starting sunday morning at 8am and got off this morning at 8am. I had the misfortune of transporting a 32 year old woman, Melina, to SHANDS-UF. SHANDS is the teaching hospital in our area. She is 36 weeks gestation and had a premature rupture of membranes (her water broke prematurely/pre-term). As I read through her chart I realized that this is her 11th pregnancy. She has 4 living children. She testedpositive/addmitted to smoking marijuana on an almost daily basis since her gestation. She also tested positive for cocaine, methamphetamines and barbituates. How does someone have such ill-reguard for other people and themselves? This is not uncommon at all in this area. I guess I never realized how prevalent it was.

Wedding.

I got my ass married on September 28th 2006. We opted for the courthouse wedding instead of spending a fortune. After paying a mortgage, car payment and all the other bills that come with owning a home, $36.50 didn't seem like a bad idea. Here are some pictures. Yes, that is me with the bald head. For some reason my hair has a problem with the top of my head.

Gainesville

Gainesville, FL is the last place I thought I would call home. I moved here with my girlfriend after she was accepted into the UF College of Medicine and got married September 28th. Gainesville is a suprisingly interesting city. The only other time I have been here was in 2001 or 2002 when I played drums in Love Is Red (see www.myspace.com/loveisredxxx for the hooters picture). We have a lot of independent bookstores and coffee shops that make for good times. I am slowly making friends here, although I really miss my friends back home. Hopefully I will get to hang out with everyone back in Florence at xmas.
